1998 V70 T5 Hose Identification

Post by WagonLagan »

Greetings!

I have a post here about my current issue, and realized that I'll need to order everything tomorrow morning to get it in time.

I'll be replacing the ECT and thermostat, and since it looks like it's about to disintegrate at any moment, I want to replace the big black hose that runs to it too. Unfortunately, I can't find anywhere what it is called or what part number it is.

I searched around the forums but couldn't find any pictures indicating, it or part numbers that definitely referred to that individual hose.

If anyone knows off the top of their head what the part # on the black hose that runs to that is, or specifically what it's named so I can find the part #, I'd appreciate it. I believe it's a coolant hose, the one that runs right next to the power steering fluid reservoir.

Thanks to any night owls that can help me out!

Upper radiator hose ? That would be the big one. Runs to the front of the motor, connects to the radiator. There's another little hose that runs from the top of the thermostat housing and connects to a nipple on the reservoir tank. Not sure what they call that one, probably reservoir hose. While you're hosing around - take a look at the hose running from the bottom of your reservoir tank to the back of the motor... if your upper radiator hose is wonky, that one might be too. Think that one's just a regular heater hose sized hose... nothing special. It's not a metric hose that I'm aware of. :P

Here's a couple of threads regarding vacuum lines.

hope it helps :)

Really appreciate that idea!

Any thoughts on what the part number or specific size might be? I have some 5/8" heater hose left over from a PCV system mod, but I'd like to know if I need another size before I pull it out of there as it's my only transportation.

I found these, but none look right to me.

EDIT: Here we go.(Thank you again Robert!!) It's got to be one of these, upper or lower reservoir hose I presume.

You think heater hose would work just as well assuming I can figure out the needed size villagepc/anyone else?

Thanks a lot for any insight on that!

At this mileage, consider doing them all:
- Upper and Lower Rad hoses
- New reservoir (mine cracked at 110K) + cap
- Hoses x2 (to and from) reservoir
- Turbo coolant hoses x2
2004 V70 2.5T 100K+
2005 XC90 2.5T 110K+

I'm in full agreement with you there, and thanks for laying them all out with names. That'd be a pretty penny though and sadly I just do not have the money or time for it just yet. Those hoses look to be $15-20 a piece. I'm planning on replacing my hoses in the near future. Any possibility of getting through some/all of it with heater hose?

BTW cn90, hope you saw that I was finally able to post results from that experiment you requested!

The results weren't very interesting or surprising, however.
