I have a 1996 Volvo 850 nonturbo cooling fan only operates with the AC on I already replaced the relays

The temp sensor died in my 850 causing the fan to not operate. The gauge showed fine until it got a bit over half way, they dropped to cold.

You can unplug the temp sensor and this should cause the fan to run at full speed and stay on after the cur is turned off.

It's a nice quick easy test.

That is actually fairly normal unless you are stuck in traffic. The cooling fan runs a surprisingly little amount of the time in normal operation. When the AC is on the fan should run full time.

I had a fan motor seized, and a relay that stuck at constant on.

Both are easily checked.
