Well, some times they will, but most often not.
Courtesy lights in the floor at your feet work fine - they turn off after shutting the door and after a short delay. But it's hit and miss whether the overhead dome lights will go out. The previous owners solution was to simply unplug the overhead lights - which is the way I have them now.
Since the lights in the floor work fine, I'm assuming the problem is not the infamous microswitch in the door latch.
Any ideas will be much appreciated!

Looking at wiring dia, there's a dome control module that controls dome light. I believe it's located at front of car where the front dome ligbts are and sunroof switch is. I'll try taking that bezel out to get to connector and spray contact cleaner into it.

I had the same symptom on my 2003 V70 when the interior door pull broke...of course it was at the end of a very long day rebuilding the front suspension...I was just getting out to lock up the car!...I was just about to leave the handle for another day when I spotted that the dome lights were still on even with the doors locked! Taking the door card off I could see that the handle mechanism is quite weak and had popped out and busted....I made a small metal bracket and secured everything with a couple of self tappers...figured this might help as my symptoms were the same but the cause was obvious in my case.

My drivers door, inside door pull also broke. I used epoxy and put it all back so it is something to grab. But having trouble understanding how the plastic inside door pull can affect the dome lights .....
I would guess that this "module" is part of the dome light/sunroof switch assembly. I grabbed one (the entire assembly - lights/switch et al - out of a junkyard and it does exact same thing.draser wrote:Looking at wiring dia, there's a dome control module that controls dome light. Door switches for second row control the foot well lights? If not, I'd check them out make sure they work.

Yea...it confused the hell out of me too. On mine the pull handle on the inside went pop...I could still close the door and lock the car but the lights stayed on....it was very annoying. When I pulled the door card the back of the mechanism had popped out...I could pop it back in but I could also see it would likely come straight back out so made up a small bracket out of some 1mm steel I had in my scrap bin and job done and everything was back to working. When I saw your post I recognised the symptoms so figured I'd better mention it just incase.
bigbrain; Door "card"? Is that the inside door panel? You brits and your terms!
I have a good friend who lives in West Midlands.
The dome lights were acting up long before my inside door pull broke. But I may pull the panel back off and see if I can figure out what exactly your are talking about.
draser; not sure what you're asking. When I open a door, the foot well lights come on. When I close the door, the foot well lights gradually dim and go out. Dome lights stay on.
