2004 XC90 ABS/Brake Light

The ABS/Brake light and yellow triangle dash lights are on. There is a message that reads "Brake Failure Stop Safely". Everything appears to function properly with the car. I've been told by a local "euro" mechanic the Brake Control Module has to be replaced. Is there a way to reset these lights long enough to take the car through emissions testing? Is there a way to reset the lights permanently?

You have to get the bcm codes read, there's too many variables to just rule out the module if the codes haven't been pulled.
