2007 V70 What Funnel for Oil

Post by jonesboy1983 »

Probably a silly question but I changed the oil for the first time on my V70 yesterday. The oil fill hole has three metal slits in it (I assume to keep out debris) unlike on my 850. Problem is my funnel doesn't fit because the slits are pretty small and I don't imagine how another funnel will fit. I just poured without the funnel but got a decent amount on the engine and I'd like to avoid this in the future. What kind of funnel do you all use for these p2 cars? Thanks!

Anything, just dump it in, it won't back up

I cut off the top half of one of those 5 quart oil jugs (Pennzoil, Castrol, etc.) you get at Wally World and other places. JUst wrap it in a plastic bag when you're done and it stays clean 'til next time. You still have to pour slowly enough to keep it from spilling over the top; but this makes it harder to miss the hole.

My 2005 doesn't fill as fast as my 1999...if I really dump in I can spill by overfill. It has the block plate whereas my 99 does not.

I just have a smallish funnel that I hole upright while pouring, and that way can monitor backflow to avoid overfill as it goes through the grate. I'm sure there is one that fits better, but it's such a minor hassle that it's not worth going to any effort to fix (IMO).

I use a clean plastic 1/2 gallon milk container (clean of course) cut just beyond the handle
