Help lowering my '98 V70XC

I have been looking for a few weeks on how to go about lowering my XC. What I haven't found is a comprehensive post showing options on how to go about that. Hopefully by my asking you, I can get a better understanding of what I can do.

Here are the details of where I am now.
* '98 V70XC
* 17" Neptune rims
* 225/45/r17 Michelin
*original shocks and springs , Nivomat

I am due to replace the tires in a month or so and have had 235/45/r17 in the past. Have not experienced any issues with rubbing and the Nivomat shocks still work.

If any of you fine folks can offer me information and experiences, I would very much appreciate the advice. Thank you.

I would have a peek in the Performance, Tuning, Aftermarket Forum for info on this. We are definitely geared more towards daily drivers and stock in this Forum.

Other Fora like Swedespeed have more 'lowered' types too...can I get away saying low-life types..???

Thank you for pointing me in another direction. That answers why I didn't see much in this forum.

I am more interested in correcting ride height or matching it up to my old GLT. This is what I am aiming for.

For anyone who is interested, here is what I have found out. Since I have Nivomats, using "drop bolts" or "foolers" to lower where the rear shocks mount on the rear control arm. There are several options for lowering the front using springs such as spring from an 850R or V70R and many after market choices.

Once you lower the front it will be very unlikely you won't scrape the 225s on the guards. I was scraping the 205s on a VERY lowered 850 with wheels that had a 5mm greater positive offset than standard.

Are you moving the stance of your vehicle for aesthetic value, or for handling purposes of a heavy all wheel drive car?
Clarify.
I have been fortunate to find Black, and Blue Nivomats in the yards that I frequent. It is not hard to look up their elevation and vehicle specifics.
We know what they are worth.If you have the ability to venture the junk yards It would be worth your while., but money helps as an alternate.

I am looking for a good balance of both, maybe leaning more towards the look more than the performance. I have read that many V70s sit lower in the rear, and would like to fix that along with get rid of the large air space in the wheel well. Perhaps an inch or so.

I run a 2000 V70R with 225/45/17 tires with no rubbing issues.

Finally settled on what I needed to do to my wagon to achieve the look I wanted. First I went from 225/35/17 tires to a set of 225/50/17. That filled in the wheel wells better. There is only the slightest rubbing at full lock. Next I tried out a few combinations of struts/springs. Chose some struts meant for a V70 GLT and kept the XC springs so the front kept a good ride height. This my result.

I'm happy. But I wonder of springs from an AWD V70 would make much difference.

I have a set of Volans that I want to put on my XC. Now that I know that 225/50/17 tires work, I might go the same route.
Just curious, what tire make and model did you choose?
