1986 240 DL Squealing

1986 240 DL Squealing

Belts are all new. I suspected the power steering pump pulley, but I replaced the pump with one from a friend and no change. The squeal is constant during idle, upon acceleration. It does not change pitch at all… just constant. Any thoughts?

Ha. I have neither a radio nor a functioning blower motor.

If no Doctor is among your friends, then you may use a lenght of rubber hose to pinpoint the location of the source with one ear (an ear plug in the other ear is optional). :lol:
I am thinking of a bearing. You did the PS pump and belts, what about tensioners, idlers? If those items are new, then the Generator would be a suspect. I am sure the method above will help confirm.
Example of Precision: Measure with a Micrometer, mark it with Chalk, and then cut it with an Axe.
Disclaimer: We (very) seldom do that

Power steering pump pulley rubbing against tensioner, perhaps? Happened to me.

I know nothing of your belt setup, but on 93-245, my alternator belts were a pinch loose.

A/c compressor is the culprit. Discovered that.
