Hey I've searched and not found the answer. I've got an oil leak at or around the oil cooler itself but the weather hasn't allowed me to get a look yet.
Question is do these coolers actually develop leaks themselves or is it just the two seals gone bad? I've got a pair of seals but would like to know if I am going to be buying a cooler too? Seems odd to me that a metal cooler would just fall apart.
Thanks!

I'd go with the seals, but you'll get a better idea when removing cooler. I believe I've seen this problem in one of the forums.

Thanks, I appreciate the reply. Today is cold but at least it's light and not raining so I should find out.
I guess time will have to tell. The seals were easy to get to and swap out. Nice green original looking seals. Gonna drive a bit and see if all stays clean.

I assume it was the seals. The unit looks pretty robust so without signs of physical damage I would say the seals, which appears to be what you found. For those that are reading this, and you have a small leak or weep that can make it to the next oil change do it all at once. It is pretty easy - the plastic cover is off and the oil is drained.
