Replacing just the bushings is an uncommon route, I suppose you could press the old ones out and new ones in, but Volvo or Lemforder don't sell a bushing, i.e. you would have to figure out which bushing brand is decent quality, etc. And then who knows how long the ball joint will last.

So unless you know for sure that is a fairly new control arm of high quality, the best bet may be to just replace the whole thing. Just the control arm that is bad, leave the other one alone until it shows symptoms.

Other than seeing the bad or torn bushings, the quickest way to tell that you have a bad control ARM is, you will feel the car jerk a little when you HIT the brakes. Kind of like the wheel slips a little right.or left.
