2006 xc70 AWD not working

ok, need some advice please. I bought this car used for our daughter in the spring and didn't know that the AWD didn't work until now that it is winter. The main reason we bought this car, was to keep our daughter safe. I have been driving this car in the snow and it is really bad!!! No codes are flashing and we checked all the fuses, the are all fine. If someone knows what to look at next, it would be appreciated. Thanks, Dee
