I have found that in the heat, when I have the airconditioner on, in stop start traffic, my car stalls and will not restart for about half an hour. I assume it is overheating, but there is no indication of this on the dash. It just stops! I lose all power and steering and it is usually in the middle of a traffic jam. I have taken it to two mechanics (one volvo), who tell me they cannot find anything wrong. I assume they just used a machine to search for problems, rather than actually looking. There is a definite connection between the airconditioning, stop start driving, and the heat that lead to the stalling. Any advice?

On that diesel often leaks at fuel filter will not show as leaks of fuel but show themselves as air being sucked in and killing engine.
Be sure the filter and water drain are both secure

Thanks Jimmy. I'm taking it back in to Volvo on Monday and will ask them to check this. I'll let you know the outcome. Cheers
