How many miles would you put on each month?

I'm not sure you are looking at the right car for you. It is a T5 and the owner is looking for a Jeep or a 'fast' car. It's the kind of guy who had fun with it and most surely the car has issues. The way the message is written is also typical for this kind of sale.

Finally, the miles also seem very low for it's age - keep it mind it takes 5 minutes to replace the odometer in this car.

Jim would be me and "upgrading" does not mean go out and buy a 2001 Volvo! :!:
You need to sit down and think about gathering up a few more dollars to spend on a car. Buying a $3K higher mileage Volvo while planning to drive 2K miles per month is not the wisest way to go about this.
If you can't do this, I would think more on the lines of a higher mileage (the horror! :o ) Japanese car!

I really want a Volvo because I like the cars alot and my 850 was really reliable. I have about 4500 dollars to spend on something. Do you have anything available? Also, if the odometer was changed would that even make a difference? Because, I thought the computer stores the mileage. And then wouldn't it just update the mileage in the new odometer?

I don't see the extensive maintenance history in the ad at all. Electrical conduit in the engine bay looks all chewed up as though it has sat in traffic for long periods. A tale-tell sign on P2 Volvos.

Emotional purchases have always ended badly for me.

Well, this guy ended up not getting back to me which may be a blessing in disguise. So, I am now looking at a 2005 s60 with 70,000 miles and a 2004 s80 with 80,000 miles. Both seem to be really nice cars.

Im not sure on the 04 S80s but i know the previous were beautiful cars but money pits. I have (two) S60s, both are 5 speeds so i dont have to worry about the trans issues. Ive had several 850s and i have to admit i love the way the S60s drive and comfort. Other issues is the ETMs tend to fail which is hit and miss, other than that your good to go.
