1965 122s Wagon - Heater Hose Route/Temp Gauge

Post by jmasa »

Folks -

Well, the carb is getting rebuilt, she's had a nice bath and I am learning a new "far side" for some breathtakingly ridiculous prices on parts. $3,200 for a carpet kit? Really? Rotsa Ruck with that....

Anyway, generally having a ball with it. All the gauges work, save the temperature gauge. This has also inspired me to "un-pickle" my 1974 BMW 2002tii that I've had in storage for several years. The wife and I are already arguing over who gets to drive what....

My query du jour is the routing of heater hoses. I have two that go to the heater box, but they are not hooked up to the heater control valve to the left side of the heater box itself. Also, there are two barbs beneath the carburetor. I haven't poked about and am kind of embarrassed.... are these vacuum for a non-existent brake servo, or a water heated setup for the choke stove? If any of you could shed some light, or better yet a good picture of your underhood arrangement so I can have a "map". I've poked around quite a bit but haven't found what I am looking for.

Also, temp gauge - any leads for sources? What do these things go for. I can and may do an aftermarket water temp & oil pressure gauge on the shift tunnel or some place unobtrusive, but would also appreciate some feedback.

TIA,

JM
