Draper 69007 Volvo Service reset tool 850/S70/V70

Post by scot850 »

I had this on a recent thread asking about these Service/ABS reset tools and many gave helpful/funny suggestions and all were appreciated. I still want to buy one but have discovered, that not surprisingly, AST and Draper have discontinued their tools for this, so now only available 2nd Hand if you can find them. Not only that they are selling for stupid high prices. Cheapest one yet would have cost me nearly $100 off ebay if I had decided to get into a bidding war and then paid $20 to ship to Canada.

Draper in Europe (and I think FCPEuro may have this tool at $174 + Shipping if it is in stock still) made a unit with their identifier part number of 69007. It looked a bit like a longer version of a Bluetooth ELM327 unit. Everywhere I have tried that lists it in Europe for sale have no stock left and it is no longer made. 2 on ebay in the UK sold in the last week for Well over $100 US + shipping used which is crazy.

Still crazy (and not just me) is I actually believe I have found 1 actual NEW Draper unit but it looks different and wonder if anyone has seen it in this configuration:

Perhaps it is an older version (?), but the supplier says it is legit. Not only that, but it is around $100 US including shipping.

Anyone seen this tool before in this form?

I will start another thread asking about VOL-FCR and Vag-Com connectors as an option. Can that reset service lights also?

Thanks,

Neil.

Honestly, all I want to do is reset the service light. Simple. But Volvo makes it not simple. If the reset tools are becoming more and more rare, why cant Volvo just allow the generic 3rd party OBD II scanners to reset the 1996 850s ? Or maybe a computer update. Just my thoughts. I have definitely never seen a Draper like that one. Doesn't mean its not legit. Maybe he can send you a video of it resetting the service light.

My solution to "resetting" the service light was to remove the bulb when I had the top dash pad removed to replace bulbs for the speedo, tach, etc. It is quite effective at extinguishing the service light. There's always the piece of electrical tape approach. . .
