1999 S70 Reverse lights

My 99 S70 is a manual 5-speed, and the reverse lights only go on when I jam it in reverse, and hold it tightly against the bottom of the allowable range of the shifter.... Is this something that I can easily fix?

I think the manual reverse light switch is in the transmission - if the switch is worn, it shouldn't be hard to find a junkyard one to replace.

all data says its part 30713679 for the V70 (probably the same) and 18 minutes to put it in.
They also quote it new at 52 USD
