RIP S70

Well, it's happened. Bad, awful, terrible knock from the bottom half of my engine. Took it to a euro mech shop and they pronounced the motor good and dead. I'd like to thank all of you here at MVS for all the help that you've given me over the years. You have saved me countless hours, gray hairs and dollars. I'm on the hunt now for another 70 of one ilk or another and hope I get just as many great miles out of it.

If it is otherwise in good shape, the new (used) engine option isn't as crazy as it sounds.

These engines can be had for fairly cheap. It could be worth it if the car is in really good shape. S70s are very hard to find in even decent shape.

Ok, so even before the grieving process could really get started, I found a new car. Same GLT SE but it black, and 150k newer. All mechanics checked out: yellow sticker ETM, passed the dipstick/glove pcv test, timing belt changed 10k ago. And get this, no seat rips up front! I sold my old one to a yard for 500 and only because I was out of town when I died and couldn't really afford to tow it home. I managed to get the new one for $2000. It does need brakes up front and a new windshield washer reservoir. Somehow the hose into the air box and the ecu cooling hose are missing, but that is a small cost. Hopefully this was a good purchase and nothing will jump up and bite me in the short term. The nice thing is, I know these cars and with the help of MVS, I know what to anticipate as far as upcoming issues. Thank again, folks. I'll post pics soon.

Very nice find! Like I said before, you don't find too many S70s in good shape.
