the S80 and S60 are two pretty different beasts.. The S80 is more about comfort and has more rear leg room (which in the S60 is kind of a joke). But, as mentioned, it's more costly to own. There are plenty of used parts on Ebay for the S60 at good prices, so repairs don't cost much for a DIYs.

Again, a 2005 at 70000 miles, I would double check with Carfax there was indeed little usage of the car in time.

If the tranny fluid is clean then I would put a MagFine filter on it and you should have no problems. It is the fine metal particles that gum up the solenoids that is the issue on the early trannies. The filter will fix this, actually prevent it from happening. The tranny is a very solid robust unit, the valve body likewise. The issue is the solenoids gumming up. How do I know - I have taken apart three and looked. My 2001 XC70 with 190k on it was fine when I rebuilt it, only had sticking solenoids. Very little wear elsewhere. Now it shifts like new.

ok ya I was considering putting a filter on. Also, the 2005 has low miles because it was actually hit in the front. The entire repair is going to cost me some money but the car is pristine and I think it will be really nice when I am done.

How badly it was hit? If the bumper is split and there are collision marks on metal frame parts I'd walk away. You may restore the look, but who in hell knows what happened to subframe bushings and other parts designed to fail in collision? You may end up fighting with imperfect steering till end of life.

I would not drive 2000 miles a month in Japanese car, the seats are inhuman torture devices and the road noise is terrible. 2000 miles/month in Volvo is a fun and relaxing journey.

Oragex...don't buy a Japanese car unless you hate working on cars! 2,000 miles a month would be a lot....I was doing this in my V70 when I originally bought it....it didn't like it too much and told be so via the huge repair bills....I was spending around £1,500 a year on average! Gladly I only use my V70 now for trips to the shops at the weekend so now I only end up fixing stuff every couple of weeks these days!
