We headed to the cabin so I was able to look at the car this weekend. Transmission color was good and level was not low. When I started it, and put it in gear, it rolled both forward and back. So I thought I would try a short drive. I headed up hill in case it stopped working, and when the car tried to shift into second it completely lost power and did not come back in forward or reverse. I coasted down hill and rolled it back into the driveway. When I tried it again later it would not move at all.
Any thoughts based on that scenario? I would do the solenoid replacement if that would do it but a full transmission rebuild price of $3800 is very close to what the car is worth.

Transmission color was based on a dipstick viewing or did you dump and replace some fluid via the drain plug?
Dipsticks are not a measure of color because the coating is too thin.

A cold ATF drain is close to 3.2 liter.
