I have a 1998 s70 glt. It has a p0117 code. I went ahead and changed the engine coolant temp sensor and the thermostat and cleared the code, all was well for the first couple of drive cycles. Now the cel is back on with the same fault , I'm getting inaccurate temp on the gauge and the aux fan is running as soon as I turn the key. I know it's a new sensor and I know there's a tight connection but the code says there's low voltage...any idea what could be the cause of this?

Cause of that is aftermarket ect sensor.
Only aftermarket ect sensor which can be used on these cars is Vernet.
Oem Volvo ect is made by Valeo.

If you have installed Vernet or Valeo ect,the only problem can be in ect connector. They can cause problems.Check wiring on the connector from car's side for loosened wires. There are only two wires.

Really?! I never even considered that. I got a new connector for it from pull a part, gonna try that tomorrow, if that doesn't do I'll go ahead and get a new ect from the dealer. I have an oreilly brand in it now (import direct). Thanks!
