1997 850GLT Need help identifying a sensor

My daughter was practicing for her driving exam the other day when I heard something fall out of the engine bay. I found a washer and a cover that went to the sensor that is circled in the picture. Anyone know what this is called and/or does?

It's factory alarm horn.

Thanks. I searched all sorts of engine diagrams and what not and couldn't find that on any of them.

She must have also been learning the quirks of locking, and un-locking a Volvo 850 Series.

What you heard was the last vibration of that alarm.
Alarm horn disabled by the nut missing from the center post.

Without the nut the alarm is useful for wooing cows....
