Just read your troubles and it sounds terribly familiar to problems I had with a 1999 s70, went through everything and took lots of expert advice, to no avail, it seemed like the car was haunted.
You wont believe i actually solved the problem one day by finding a loose earth wire right behind the headlight. That was it!! couldn't believe it myself. But no more troubles.

Line Pressure 375 - 395 kPa
Residual Pressure 200 kPa within 20 minutes of fuel pump shut off

385 kPa translates to 56 psi

200 kPa translates to 28 psi after 20 minutes

You are good as long as it doenst bleed down to fast

Jut noticed its a turbo.

Check the induction hose for holes, splits, loose connects. You have to go over it really carefully, even removing it to be sure.

A leak that opens up under boost will totally mess your engine up and you will swear the engine is toast. Tighten one clamp, and you are good to go. Mine took three weeks to find.

Tks for the fuel pressure reply..I will check all hoses, seems like I did already but never hurts to double check..Kind of an update.....I found a coil that was intermittent and replaced it.So far it seems to be idling better, haven't driven it around yet, plan on doing that today..Will update results of test drive and hoses..Tks again everyone..

Man this thing is driving me nuts..ETS light today after start up.It's been sitting for bout 3 days not started..Black soot from exhaust and I don't understand this but the exhaust temp almost burnt a rag I mean within a min off fire up and exhaust was so hot the rage was smoking after trying to choke the exhaust out for 4 seconds(Rag was simply held over the exhaust opening to see if it stumbled as in a converter stopped up).At first fire up it was surging idle, then ETS light came on and of course as I was trying to clear it's throat it would hit the 2K limiter which I guess is a limp mode..Turn it off removed the key, restarted it same thing, but I was able to get RPM's higher than 2K to clear it out.
The last time it was running or the last couple it was idling fine and sounded good.5 new plugs were put in just before and the coil I mentioned and I thought it was licked..Now it seems to be back in it's worst mode again..I'm about to give up on this thing and throw the money I have in it out the window.Call the salvage yard and give it a burial..

Please guys, those of you who have followed this thread, what it the issue ??

Many thanks DW
