False bulb failure message

Post by mal81394 »

Hey guys I need some help. I have a 2005 s60 that I just replaced both headlights on the car had hids and I put in brand new headlights with halogen bulbs. Now every position the switch is in I get a bulb failure warning. Is there anyway to reset the computer to work with the new headlights? Or can the dealer reset? The warning is very annoying and I need to get it fixed to get a thorough inspection for a new pa title. Any help appreciated!!

So you're getting the message even when just the parking lights are on? Have you walked around the car and made sure none of the rear bulbs or side markers are out?

If everything was fine when set up for HIDs and you swapped them for halogens, maybe the system doesn't know what's going on (different resistance, etc.)

I don't know if it would do any good but you could try disconnecting the battery a while and see if that clears it up.

Exactly no bulbs out anywhere. And yes I have disconnected the battery overnight. I am not sure what to do.

You need to reprogram the car because it has the program that works with HID and you swapped to halogen which do send a different signal (pulse) to computer and it can not close the circle of the computer and you get the bulb failure message.
Also if you did install any led bulbs than they could be causing the problem you need some adapters for wires in order not to get the failure message.

Also, if I had a Volvo DICE system could I reset the computer myself. That is what the dealer uses correct?
