2000 V70 Which brake rotors should i buy?

Post by famfeld »

Hi. I need to get new front rotors for my car. I was told Centric premium rotors were good for the price and in the vocational school where I work, the mechanic measured 300 mm diameter on my rotors. The car has 15" rims and is non turbo FWD. I was told at Napa that I needed the smaller diameter rotors since the rims are 15 and not 16". I would like to get good quality rotors that will last for several years.

anyone know about the sizes/fitment of these as well as what brands/quality I should get?

Thanks,

Feld

Here are the ones that I think are the right ones:

Just a matter of preference, but I don't like rusty rotors, so I use coated rotors, have Zimmerman all around on my car and they look good after 3 Michigan winters.

About any brand of rotor will work but I have heard that Brembo switched production from Europe to China and the quality has suffered as a result. They still want a premium price for them but they are not a good value anymore. Zimmerman are about the best going but I do fine with Raybestos rotors at a lower price point and I do drive hard. I have had trouble with the Autozone Durolast house brand so that is another one to avoid.

ATE made in Italy is a premium rotor, but they're not painted on the hat portion so they do rust on the non-swept area.

I have put Zimmerman as well as Meyle both from IPD. I did everything for around 200 bucks. Worth giving them a call.

Why would your mechanic tell you to replace the rotors because of 15" rims?Do you have some problems with your current rotors?
You can fit whatever rims you want on your car 16",17" or 18" and that does not mean that you need to change your stock rotors too.

If you look carefully, you will see that those rotors from links you provided also have 302mm in diameter.

Could be that your car is equipped with bigger performance rotors and they are too big for 15" rim.If they fits well and don't scrape onto rim or somewhere else, they are fine.

Factory brake rotor diameter is 280mm,performance 302-330mm.

My last Brembos bought in summer 2014 were made in Italy, and those were probably made at least 6 mo. prior, so you may be correct. But, I am planning to buy the Brembo again this spring and will ask where they are made (and double confirm this).

Hello I use breakperformance.com and buy their premium slotted/dimpled rotors. In the past I have gone thru 2 sets of Volvo OEM blue box,1- Brembo and 1-other unknow brand which all warped in about 20K miles or less. Since I put the break performance rotors on 80K ago still problem free and lots of life yet to go. Regards, SpeedyPete
