For Sale:
1998 V70R, Silver exterior with Black/Gray interior, 184,000 Miles. $1,200 OBO
Selling because the family, dog, and skiing gear need more room and it has a transmission leak that I am not sure I want to fix. If it were not for the fact that I need something bigger for the road trips, I would fix the leak and keep it. It has been a great car and I am a fan of the V70Rs.
Highlights:
San Diego car (not at the coast), I have owned it since 2000 (second owner), and kept it garaged, no rust.
VIN: YV1LW5249W2435924
- Factory 3rd row seat, with the seat belts, all works fine.
- OEM stereo with 3 CD changer
- cargo area privacy cover (Volvo) will be included, just not installed for the pictures
- Factory 16 inch wheels, in good shape, minor curb scrapes.
-Excellent maintenance, all kept up. Mostly stock still, with a few exceptions below. Everything works, except rear passenger side courtesy light, and I just have not bought a bulb for it yet.
- Kept waxed, paint in good condition, the usual minor rock dings on the hood, which I have kept touched up.
- all new PCV system parts in 2014 (intake manifold off and all that under there replaced).
- most vacuum lines replaced at various points.
-New Nivomats rear with new shock mounts, new rear springs and bumper stops, and Bilstein TC front struts with IPD heavy duty spring seats in 2012
-New Continental Pro Contact tires in 2012 at 160kmiles, 205-55/R16, lots of tread left
-IPD parts: boost gage, turbo control valve, compression bypasss valve, phenolic spacer on intake manifold, upper engine mount bushings, lower engine/xmsn mount
-K&N Air filter
-Rebuilt propshaft from Colorado Driveshafts in 2013.
- AWD works fine; Angle gearbox fluid drained and flushed last in 2013. Minor seep at seal, mechanic has looked at it, no issue.
- A maintenance spreadsheet is available that I used to track all the maintenance if you want to see it.
Some of the other items replaced at various points:
- brake lines at the wheels
- turbo oil return line seal
- Oil dipstick seal
- camshaft oil seals (both)
- Oil cooler hoses
- all flexible cooling system hoses and heater hoses
- timing belt every 70k miles
- Steering rack
- inner and outer tie rods, control arms
- alternator
- ignition switch
- radiator
- ABS module (rebuilt)
Lowlights:
- The transmission fluid leak: From the same spot you would get a rear main seal engine oil leak, just the same seal on the transmission side. Red fluid leaking out, transmission fluid level goes down, etc. I have kept the fluid up, so transmission is fine and shifts well, but now leaking about a quart every 200 miles.
The independent Volvo mechanic I see for heavy maintenance has estimated at $1,200 to $1,500 to pull it all apart, replace the rear main seal (since we are in there) and fix the transmission side seal, and also replace any other seals that are accessible once the transmission is out.
If you have questions, please ask. I have many pictures, did not post them all, but I can add more if you want to see more.
