That is the ONLY way to connect a VM. Glad you got it sorted.

i was able to connect and pull data from the wife's car. she has an '08 with keyless start so it had to be running. not sure what the number II position is with keyless.

now it is a matter of navigating through vida to figure out where everything is. i've been looking for a user guide but haven't found one, is there one floating around out there?

Pulling data on the run is fine; however, there are quite a few tests that require Ignition ON but do not make sense with the engine running. (And one would not want to perform those on a running motor either).

See the attached Manual that came with the install cd (mine is v. 2011A but most of the information will be identical)

thanks!! fortunately (knock on wood), i don't have a need for vida/dice at the moment. when the time undoubtedly comes, i want to make sure i know how to use the tool.

I try to open with vmware and get a error, specified file is not a virtual disk. Any thoughts?
