Hello, Hoping this will be a easy question to answer.
I had to change the upper suspension mounts on the front of my 850 a few years ago. Afterwards, and somewhat expected the very outer edge of both tyres started to wear. I knew that it was probably because the steering knuckle was not set correctly. I had planned to purchase the camber adjusting kit and set the camber by purchasing a magnetic camber setting tool but after googling I discovered that I can purchase 4 sleeves from Volvo.
My question is will the 4 sleeves set my camber to zero and should I buy new nuts and bolts?
The part numbers I have are
4x 9153007 ( sleeves)
4x 971099 (nuts)
4x 982845 (bolts)
Many thanks in advance
André

You will be better off buying the camber kits and they, by design, have their own bolts since it is the bolts themselves that are eccentric and allow for the adjustment.
The shop manuals insist on always changing the nuts and bolts but I have re-used them times and never had any problems.

Many thanks for replying Ozark Lee.
Buying the kit was my first choice and here in the uk I can source it for approx £20.00. However, I then realised I would probably need the magnetic tool ( £25.00 ) to help me know when the camber was set to 0.0
The sleeves are obtainable from Volvo for £1.70p each. Naturally if the sleeves automatically set the camber to 0.0 then I assumed this was the cheaper and easier solution.
I may have missed something though.
Thanks again for replying

If the sleeves actually did set the camber to exactly zero then it would be great, unfortunately they don't.
The camber gets out of whack by a variety of things including potholes, worn springs, worn strut mounts, etc. Admittedly the largest variable is typically the slop in the strut to steering knuckle mounting holes but that is just part of the puzzle and adding the sleeves can make things better or worse but rarely do they make the camber exactly correct.
The price is quite tempting so I suppose it is worth a try.
