'94 850 Dash Speaker Question

Post by IG-88A »

The dash speakers in the '94 don't work. They haven't worked since I got the car last year. I swapped them with a known working set, and I still get nothing from them. I do know that the dash was out of this at some point, as the previous owner had the evaporator replaced. Is there an intermediate connector somewhere between the connector at the radio and the connectors at the speakers themselves that may have not been reconnected when the dash was put back in? That's about the only theory I can come up with. If this connector does exist, where would be the best area to start looking for it?

The wires from the radio connector go directly to the speakers, there is no other connector between them like there is with the rest of the speakers so I doubt it is a wiring problem.

Interesting. Thanks. I'm not sure what to look into then. They didn't work with the stock unit, and still don't work with a 901 I installed a few weeks ago. I'll try some other speakers I've got laying around and see what I come up with. The other set of Volvo tweeters I tried worked a couple of years ago. But maybe something happened to them between then and now.

Since you have a 901 you must have an amp. The dash speakers tie directly to the head unit while the rest of the speakers tie to the amp. I will need to look at the schematics but I think the front speakers are the only things on that plug.
