2002 S60 2.4 Starts for about 30 seconds then quits running

Ran out of gas, refilled car with gas wouldn't stay running. Put new inline fuel filter on and still only stays running for about 20-30 seconds then shuts off. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

I did something similar...I ran the tank right down...luckily I didn't run out. But after the incident I had all sorts of running issues...stalling...etc. Mine turned out to be the main fuel filter....the one just in front of the rear wheel. Am assuming you changed this (it just unscrews like an oil filter)....so would guess that dirt has got somewhere in the fuel system. I'd start at the tank end maybe as you might get lucky and the filter blocked up preventing the dirt to pass further up the system. On my car it was like the car thought the fault was a fuel leak and was shutting everything down....no doubt another volvo safety feature I guess.
