2007 XC90 V8 Sport Spring Replacement - stiff suspension

Post by speedyswede83 »

The ride on my V8 Sport is so stiff and every little road imperfection creates a thud, jolt, rattle, etc. I have replaced the shocks, spring seats, control arms, end links and it still is horrible. The Volvo dealership says that it is a little stiffer and more bouncy than usual but the sport suspension is very stiff. Can I replace the springs with springs from a non sport model to help improve ride quality. Has anyone else found any other solutions to refining the ride on sport/R models?

Yes a coil of smaller diameter (I'm talking about cross sectional thickness of the coil material) should provide a better ride. If the Sport's ride height is any lower than the non sport you'll gain a higher ride height however it will be more comfortable.
