2002 V70 The car has a strong gas smell,
I can smell gas outside of the vehicle after driving, more strong near the rear of the car. Also, the front passenger foot area fills with water during rainstorms, yet when inspected, I couldn't find where it was coming in from. Nothing on the roof was wet at all. and everything else was dry all around. Any suggestions?

Also, the front high/low light on the passenger side is not working, the bulb is good, could the water have possibly caused this?

The gas smell... probably connected to fuel pump recall, see http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/probl ... mmary=true . That link starts talking about XC90 but mentions the rest of the P2 models later on.

Thank you for the great tip. I brought the car to the local dealership and the problem was related to the fuel pump recall. I actually had received the recall letter in 2010, but never experienced any problem until recently. Lucky for me, they fixed the problem, at no charge, even with 140,000 miles on the car. thanks i appreciate the help

but related to the flooding, i removed the inner side frame panels in between the windshield and side windows, couldn't find any problem or solve any problem. i had looked on you tube and seen how the drain tube from the moon roof can get clogged up inside the valve, and the solution of removing the cover and cleaning the valve. however on this model, the driver side didn't have a drain tube visible, maybe inside the frame? and the passenger side had a tube going into a fan, no valve and when i fished a thin copper wire through anything it always stopped short of going through the other side. i jacked the front end up and saw a few holes underneath where water was dripping out after i poured a glass into the moon roof channel. oh well, I'm going to buy the book or take it in for the maintenance. $168 at the local dealership
