2004 S60R for sale with issues. Advice please!

There is someone locally selling a 2004 S60R with 'issues' but can't afford to fix.

Most of the issues are cosmetic or service related, but the ones that concern me are:

1) He says there is a problem with the 'active chassis'. I think he means the 4C or active damping would sound right? If I recall reading elsewhere, if this becomes an issue it can be nearly impossible to diagnose or fix. Is that correct?

2) There is an issue with the traction control system. Again I know it can be as simple as needing the software upgrade to de-sensitise the system or again it can be a nightmare. Is that correct?

3) He says the engine is a little rough.

The car has about 125,000 miles on it and it is a stick shift. It is being sold for $2700 CDN or best offer. What advice do you have or should I pass on it.

I can do most of the work on the car (needs a TB and PCV), and most other suspension/service work.

That is cheap, but the problems seem a bit vague, maybe pay to send it to a dealer for a diagnosis

I could do, but I do have Vida/Dice and could go and pull codes myself first. Before I did that wanted to see what the pool of knowledge had to say as these problems can be a can of worms as I understand it, but wanted to see if there is anything obvious to check first or run a mile!

Most surely needs new shock/struts at these miles. The 4C suspension is expensive, I've heard it can be replaced with the regular suspension?

It's the 'engine runs rough' part that's more worrying. I heard this engine can split liners, a very expensive fix. If that's the issue, people will replace the engine with a 2.5T. But with the engine and the suspension in need of replacement, the car is basically worth nothing, not even $1000
