alright thanks, From what I described above you think the pcv is ok? I get 22 mpg combined in the winter so I'm probably ok. I just want the car to be running the best that it can and to last as long as possible.

From what you've described, PCV seems not requiring immediate attention. Glove test on our V70 w/ N/A engine is less energetic that on XC70 with turbo, i.e. turbo engine has a deeper crankcase vacuum.
