You can mostly only fit Volvo wheels on these car, as mentioned above. Even from other recent Volvo models other than the V and the S40, as long as they clear the brake rotor (I think there is a 10" and a 11" rotors if I'm correct, the 11" will need 16" wheels and larger).

Thanks.
like i said im learning, i dont fully yet understand too much what all the numbers mean.
speaking of which what do the numbers 40-49 mean? And is it after 49 on whatever it is that i would need spacers?

To have equivalent wheels, they must have 5 wheel lugs and the distance between two near wheel lugs center is 108mm. Additionally, we need a center bore - the whole in the center of the wheel - to be a specific size because it goes on the bearing on the car which has a center ring of the same exterior size. There is also a matter of what size are the wheel lugs, length, diameter and filet pitch. Then we have the wheel offset, important because it needs to clear the brake caliper; also the wheel diameter.
There are a few sites explaining in detail with pictures all these parameters. Also site for each specific car with the available wheel sizes but these sites have sometimes errors http://www.wheelfitment.net/volvo
