On the vacuum lines to the rear of the airbox -- white on top or bottom?

Neil, I am referring to the two small-diameter hard plastic vacuum lines that insert, one right above the other into the back of the top half of the air cleaner box. The black line originates from the bottom of the air cleaner box, the white line comes further from in front of the engine.

On a '96 and '98 NA with vacuum controlled heated intake air, the white goes on top.
'98 S70, 230k, purchased new in '98
'96 855 GLT, 163k, purchased lightly used in '99
