2001 V70 aw50-55 Solenoid help.

Anyone with any good links to DIY or Write ups on Solenoid removal. Can't find any Any good tips besides lowering the subframe? Probably going to tackle this tomorrow. Doesn't look to bad, it looks like its right in front. Will I need to support the engine when lowering the sub frame?

Yes - you need to support the engine from above or below. I did it from above but I suppose you can jack it from below. The main movement will be the driver side front corner which has to drop. This space is needed to get the valve cover pan out. I would remove the cooling fan as this opens up needed space. Coolant can be left intact. You need not take out air cleaner, but it does help a little. that said, the more you take out the more room you have.

I would use a gasket rather than RTV, much better if you have an issue. It is also way easier to work with as getting the pan back on is not a straight shot. After my first failed attempt, I used a gasket and have had no issues. Certain Nissan Maximas use the exact same tranny buy that gasket, about $8.

It is not a tough job. Are you going to only replace the solenoids or are you going to go through the entire valve body? I went with the TransGo SK AW55-50 kit and all is working fine.
