Sounds like a Windows file error or something right? I wish it was
I have had some problems with the opening of the hood, which i read now is fairly common in these cars. When i inspect the mechanism, i can see why. The hood opening system was not exactly designed very well.
But the strange thing is when i read about this problem in different places, they always mention something about "rubber bumpers" that supposedly limit the hood travel as it comes down to engage in the latch mechanisms which are arranged as one on each side of the engine compartment.
When i look for these things, i dont find them anywhere. It seems like they would give the hood a little extra upward force when the hood release lever is pulled, and that would be just enough to pop the hood open in most cases, even if not under all temperature conditions.
Can someone show me where these hood 'bumpers' are supposed to be located under the hood? I dont even see any brackets for mounting them. I have seen some replacement rubber bumpers on the web for sale, and they look like a small cylinder of black rubber which looks kinda like a spring thing.
If i could get a drawing of these things and their location and possibly if there are brackets for them, i might be able to rig something up myself to replace them and that way at least i would be able to open the hood without having to pull up on the hood, pull the release, then pull on the hood again, then pull on the release again, etc., which is a pain especially since i am checking things on a daily basis since i just got the vehicle a few weeks ago.
Thanks in advance, and be sure that i will always pass along any information i obtain to other owners too if they need help in the same area.
