so the coolant level low light came on while driving. my wife noticed it and we noticed that it was running hot. we immediately pulled over and shut it down. I popped the hood and found the lower hose had come loose from the radiator. I tightened it back up put coolant in it and tried to start it. I noticed some oil dripping and the coolant started dripping out at the same spot (off of the skid plate by drivers side near the cv axle. It wouldn't start. I got it towed home and researched what may be wrong with it. I thought maybe the turbo coolant lines??? I pulled skid plate and heat shield. The leak seems to be coming from the turbo on the exhaust side where the gasket connects it to the ex manifold. It just won't start. I called my independent volvo shop and explained the situation. I was told to bring it in. I went on to explain about the fact there was no coolant in the oil and it won't start now. I was told I probably warped the head and cylinder walls and the engine was shot. Since i can't get it to the shop I am hoping some one can verify this car has seen its day and that there is no other possible cause of the problem.
Thanks
Chris

Its painful to pay for a tow to get it to a shop to be told your car is dead, but you can't get a better diagnosis on line than someone looking at your car. A compression test is the cheapest way to find if you have major engine damage.

It is hard to see lower radiator hose after you pop the hood b/c there a lot in your way.
Was the water pump ever replaced?
