2002 V70 Transmission Service Required (been doing work)

Okay, so quick back story. Just bought a 2002 Volvo V70 2.4T recently that came with the "Transmission Service Required" light on. I know that would be a terrible choice under most conditions, but its in such beautiful condition, the engine runs great, and I snagged it for $600. Picked it up and drove it from Raleigh back to Fort Bragg, no issues at all, ran like a champ (around a hundred or so miles). Got it back and threw a can of the Seafoam Trans Tune in it and ran it for a few hundred miles. Did a drain and fill, transmission fluid came out completely black, so I did another one, still completely black. Couple days ago I replaced the B4 servo cover, pulled the TCM and cleaned the contacts (which were nice and shiny btw) and today I replaced the TCV (had an overboost code, replaced TCV and after some fun "testing", have yet to have the code come back). As it sits the car is running beautifully. It pulls hard to redline, transmission shifts without hesitation, everything works like it should without even a hick-up. On my to do list is to do an actual flush of the transmission (pump out of the line till it runs red, no machine, I know) to make sure that it has perfect 100% new transmission fluid in it, then I'm going to take it to the Stealership to get the software all updated.

So now to my question. Is there anything else that you guys think I should do before I take the car in to get the software loaded up and TCM reset? If the transmission is shifting as flawlessly as it is, why is the stupid light still there? I've pulled the battery and connected the cables multiple times, light still comes back on as soon as they are reconnected. I have never once had the "-" instead of the gear position, I've never actually had anything weird at all. So far I think we've put over 1000 miles on it, city/highway mix.

Any type of guidance would be greatly appreciated

You could buy your own VIDA/DICE unit and have the fluid counter reset. There might not be anything wrong with the transmission

My 2002 V70 had worn contacts in transmission position sensor - a roundish box on top of transmission just under air filter box. The new unit costs just under $200, but it you are handy, you can try to split it and replace worn metal pads.

First thing to do is to read the codes though...

You really need to READ the codes that the TCM is sending so you can prepare for that. It may only be a trans fluid reset required or something requiring maintenance.

Buy a Vida/Dice for this car and learn to use it and you'll never need to visit the dealer again (unless you want to buy parts, of course ;) )
