Hi, Robert. I see that your route is taking you through Florida at some point. If you're making your way through or around the Tampa Bay area, please pm me. It would be a great learning time for me and dinner would certainly be part of the deal!

Hi,

Just to note i had enjoyed your videos very much. Very clear and to the point and well explained. That's especially important for someone like me learning about these cars for the first time.

I also followed your example for making a "serpentine belt tool" which was the little 19mm square block that you stick into the tensioner to loosen and replace that belt.
I used quality aluminum and added a small hole though the block from one side to the other for a long, strong cord to pass through (lanyard) so that it doesnt get lost, and also for quick retrieval if the block is dropped when trying to get it into the square hole of the tensioner...just pull it back up with the cord and try again.

So thanks for that idea too.

Just to note, i purchased 3/4 inch square aluminum bar stock and gently filed the four surfaces a little with a flat file. A few passes and it fits in the tensioner square hole.
I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.

Hi,

That's very nice of you Robert to help people out like that. I have to say that you must be quite a generous person.

I guess you like to travel too so I hope you enjoy your trip around the country. It must be nice to see different places like that.

I didnt realize that you were on the road already, so i sent an email which you probably wont see until you get back home again whenever that is :-)

Take care for now,
Al

Here's a pic of the finished tool. Doesnt look like much, but it really does the trick. Before that i tried a bolt head but didnt like the way only two sides made contact with the tensioner so i followed your advice and made one of these.
Note: The camera angle makes it look like rectangular bar stock but it is really square bar stock.

Tool made from 3/4 inch square aluminum bar stock slightly filed down.
