1998 V90 How to fit rear mudflaps ?

My rear mudflap kit is part number 9134612 and the kit contains mudflaps 9134617 and 9134616 plus rivets and screws.

Volvo Part Warehouse says the kit fits the following:
Volvo 940 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998
Volvo 960 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997
Volvo S90 1997, 1998
Volvo V90 1997, 1998

I have verified it would correctly fit my 1995 940 wagon and a friend sent a photo of the same mudflap correctly mounted on a 1994 960 wagon as follows.

Below is a photo of where the rear fender on my V90 where the mudflap should go. I hope the photo shows how the lining of the fender prevents the mudflap from being mounted. To mount the mudflap would need some significant cutting away of either the fender lining or of the mudflap.

I think my ideal solution is to find a Volvo datasheet explaining the modification needed or, failing that, a clear photo showing the mudflap mounted on a V90.

Scroll down the page to "Product Assemblies," then click on

and you will see, as shown in enclosed photo below (use horizontal scroll bar), Mudflap 5DRS kit - 9134332

There is a programming error....9134332 vs 9134612 are not the same, but on first page cited above, your number was there, but on second page cited above, my number was there.

All the info I have seen so far indicates that my mudflaps are correct for the 1998 V90 (except for the little detail that they do not fit the car as it was manufactured).

What would number 24 be used for (3538251)? It looks to be some type of spacer for the mudflap.

Go to their homepage here, and fill in your vehicle information, then search for mudflaps.

It shows 9134332 is kit part number.

Otherwise, give your VIN to OEM Volvo dealer, and have them find the right part number.

My kit is 9134612 and is specified for S90 and V90. It seems that it will also fit all older 900's too.

When I found that it did not fit, my first reaction was that I had been given the wrong kit. But all the information I have seems to say that I have the right kit for my car. When the local garage owner told me he remembered that a modification was needed to fit mudflaps to a V90 that seemed to confirm it.

My kit was provided by a Volvo oem dealer who was given my car's VIN. When told there was a problem, the dealer double-checked and came back confirming that my kit is correct for my car.

I talked to a person with access to Volvo's bulletins, manuals, etc., and he could not find any specific install literature.

I showed at that OEM Volvo dealer's site how their website can show both part numbers...question is, does OEM Volvo have a problem with their part numbers?

I would have the Volvo OEM you bought it from to call Volvo's tech department. Was poster "lummert" correct that a missing piece is needed?
