I have researched and read here and many other places regarding this problem. My first and last thoughts are immobilizer.
Does the immobilizer also disable fuel as well as the starter? I read that it does but that may be for another year? Reason I ask is because some here posted that they ran a wire from solenoid to starter and got car going but that would not work if fuel was disabled.
I am also looking that the ignition switch to replace and possibly the solenoid or at least check the wires to it.
I have had the car almost a year with this issue and lately it has happened with more frequency, in the beginning it was almost never to happening quite often lately.
I have a hard time believing the immobilizer would act up so much and need to be reset. I now have a routine that starts with unlocking and locking doors 5 times, does not seem to work, flip key over, put car into neutral. Today I tried disconnecting the battery but that did not work but managed to get it going in about five minutes.
I am wondering if getting a new transponder key and freshly programmed will help? I do not have remote, would like to disable completely immobilizer if possible and lastly I will throw in the PNP switch as a possible culprit. I get no errors on dash whatsoever.
Sorry for the long post but wanted to explain.
