Hi,
I see a lot of people have this problem, mine too.
Did anyone figure out a solution to open the hood just in case the cable breaks one day? I know we could buy a new cable to help this, but just in case it breaks it would be good to know how to open the hood without damaging anything.
Any ideas?
BTW i oiled the heck out of my latches and it helps, although not perfect yet. I also cleaned the catches.

I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.

I have a bicycle brake cable on each latch, looped down so that I can reach it from under the car. If the cable ever brakes, I will be able to open the hood that way. I've only done this on one of my P80 cars though ...MrAl wrote:... Did anyone figure out a solution to open the hood just in case the cable breaks one day? ...
It is pretty common for the cables to break but probably because it has still never happened to me, I am not eager to change the cable as a preventive maintenance item.
