04 V70R F/R Leaking Strut Replacement

Post by Baptiste1106 »

My front right strut was destroyed from NYC streets
" go figure " so I replaced it yesterday. Now I have to get the system calibrated @ Volvo which isn't gonna happen anytime soon. They can suck it @ $169.95/hour

It's not the end of the world that it's done ASAP.
Ask here, perhaps someone near to you has a VIDA DICE set up.
A calibration takes all of 3 minutes.
Mod note. Jim passed away in early 2022, his contributions to this forum are immortal, and he is missed. RIP

They also sell a lot of fake programs so a link to the one that's legit would help

The thing you need to understand about the Vida software and Volvo genuine Dice tool is that they are designed for daily workshop use. The Dice tool alone costs over $1, 000. Subscription to Vida software costs megabucks per month.

Bluetooth connectivity between the tool and PC are needed in a workshop environment (genuine Dice has a Bluetooth connection inbuilt) to avoid dropped/damaged laptop computers. Cloned Dice only has a USB connection.

The Vida license is now pared down to 30 day amounts which most home users have no need for. Licensing allows legitimate software download (each download has a set fee starting at approximately $50) for use with key programmimg, software update and software reload. Many of the modules when bought new such as throttle, ECM, TCM, BCM, CEM, DIM etc come unprogrammed and require software to be loaded upon first use. This is where a license and genuine Dice come into play (though most of the clone Dice can perform this unless inferior)

The clone Dice tool and cracked Vida software can successfully read fault codes, perform complex analysis of subsystems and even perform calibrations of most modules. This is more than enough for the hobbyist/enthusiast user. Many garages have a clone Dice and cracked Vida because they work well enough for 90% of their needs. If a software download is needed they will send their customer to a dealer.

Their other tool may be a Autologic scanner that they pay thousands of dollars to update the software on every few years. Actually Autologic and Volvo have had a fallout in recent times and the latest Autologic updates have no Volvo software downloads forcing professional garages to return to licensed Vida use.
