Odds are you've got a bad switch. They are a common failure item.

Hold the switch in one of the directions and try to give the seat a light 'bump' backwards. My 99 sometimes sticks a bit and that gets it to move. Needs lube, obviously.

Switches also sometimes work on the memory presets but not the individual position control switches. It can be interesting engineering the correct seat position using short blips of the memory switches.

I've tried to hold the button and move the seat in the past and again this weekend. no budge whatsoever. i mean none. And i gave it a good effort. i did lube the rails a bit and sprayed into the parts I couldn't reach. That tricked works on the driver side but on the passenger side I get zero budge.

On the driver side I have preset position 1 programmed all the way forward and position 3 all the way back. nice little life hack there. Moving forward/backward with the button alone maybe works 10-20% of the time. The presets work like a charm and up/down seat bottom and tilt on the backrest all work. Just forward/backward sticks.

My switch didn't work for a couple of operations no matter how hard I pressed. I opened it and cleaned the buttons with WD-40 and it fixed the problem.
