1998 V70R Parking Brake Shoe Issue

Post by icrashcars »

The parking brake on my car hasn't worked properly since I got it a few months ago.

I disassembled the unit and replaced with new parts. (shoes and springs)

However, the rotor will not fit over the new assembly. I have the adjustment screw set to the minimum and everything appears to be in it's proper place. Parking brake is disengaged.

However, when I try to engage the parking brake, there is no movement of the shoes. It is as if the shoes are fully engaged.

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

There are two part numbers for parking brake shoes and they are not interchangeable. Compare new parts with old to make sure they match, exactly.

Ran into this on my 1999

I confirmed the parts are correct. They also match what was on the car previously.

Appears to be a cable issue. After reading posts and viewing pictures it seems like the brake is stuck in the engaged position.

Cable frozen in the on position, perhaps?
