Glad Misha got you pointed in the right direction after I miss-understood the issue. Great call, and that crank mount is a common failure, as oil always seems to get on it from somewhere!

It was leaking oil that killed it, and even after doing the PCV I still have a leak. I'm afraid I let the PCV go too long now I am faced with figuring out where the leak is coming from and fixing it. It never ends!

There are no rules...i had no oil leaks onto it.After 17 years of doing it's job...it doesn't matter.

If you still have leaks on the front of the engine in the cam belt area, the usual culprits are the main front crank seal, or oil pump seal, and the cam seals. By removing the timing belt plastic cover, it may give you a better idea. Take some photos if you can, and we can try to help pinpoint the culprit!

Experiencing similar issue on a 1996 Volvo 850 GLT Wagon. Ordered the Passenger lower right mount that bolts onto cradle with (2) 17mm bolts and to motor with (2) 14mm bolts. I changed mount, but vibration in reverse still present. I have to change my top mount as it moved over to passenger side. Is there any other mount locations or issues that will cause this vibration?

Having just replaced the mounts on my 96 a couple of days ago, I can only give you my take those. I would think the mount by the crank pulley would be most likely to cause vibration. More potential for metal to metal contact. The two others are big hydraulic mounts, one back near your exhaust and the other near the dipstick. There is also a transmission torque rod, but I can't see that causing vibrations at low speed in reverse. I guess if it's really shot. Maybe as mentioned in this thread you have a brake issue of some sort.
