Just scored door locks for front passenger and driver side (and a driver side master controller switch for the door) at Harry's U- Pull It in West Hazelton, Pa. Now the fun begins. Formerly, the driver's door would not open from the inside and the passenger door would not open from the outside. Now, both open fine, but I cannot get the car to lock with the key (and the key fob remote is long gone). I suspect some mounting nuance with the driver side door handle that I am missing. The key turning in the lock feels "mushy" for want of a better descriptive -- like it is being turned through pudding.
Also, the master controller switch (or maybe the locks) is exhibiting the following quirk. If I use the global lock function, the buttons go down on all doors, but immediately pop back so the car will not stay locked. Edit -- Curiously, the master controller switch seems to function fine this morning.
Any thoughts?

Hi there ES,
Well i cant help much, but if you are missing the entire outside handle that could make a difference in the feel of the key turn because there is a control rod that connects between the handle and the rest of the locking guts, which includes other control rods, pivot points, etc.
I only have guesses from here.

I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.

Typically when the locks will engage and then quickly unlock themselves again it is a bad microswitch in the latch. Another common failure point is the wire loom at the tailgate hinge. It can be any lock that will cause that phenomenon.

That could be what is bugging my passenger side door lock then, which opens but then quickly locks again when pressing the drivers side switch for 'all' doors to unlock.
I hope it is not too hard to get the door panel off and then back on again after any repair.

It is not difficult but 99 times out of 100 the mounts for the panel clips actually come unglued in the process. I would buy a full set of panel clips (including the panel clips for the mirror cover) before you even start and be prepared to re-glue the mounts. The 70 series panels are also bad about coming unglued between the panel and the door pocket.MrAl wrote:I hope it is not too hard to get the door panel off and then back on again after any repair.
I think Robert has a video showing what happens and what he did to fix it. I have tried various adhesives and had mixed results. Hot glue has seemed to be as easy and effective as anything for me.
