1996 Volvo 850R Does FAG make OEM spring seats?

Post by dmack87 »

FCP has a full front suspension kit that they say "All parts are GUARANTEED OEM QUALITY AND FITMENT" but the kit lists FAG as the supplier of the spring seats:

http://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo-f ... em-vfsk2-s

This is a part I have repeatedly read needs to be OEM for lifespan, and FCP sells these Volvo branded:

Is FAG the volvo oem for sprint seats? On a related question, for a car with 170,000 would you go ahead and replace the springs at the same time? If so, does OEM matter a great deal on the springs?

Thanks!

Spend the money and get the IPD HD seats.

I would not replace the springs. Others may have a different opinion. Absolutely replace the spring seats with Volvo OE which are now heavy duty because they are same as those designed for the heavy XC90 SUV. Sachs is the maker of the spring seats although those shown in the kit may not be the same as OE because they cost half as much.

That FCP page lists Sachs as the supplier of the spring seats. This is correct, Sachs/Boge, but I don't ever want to get burned on spring sets again, I just buy the OEM ones, Volvo 8646713.

No need to replace a coil spring unless it is broken.

I called them and was reading it wrong. The seats are Sachs which is Volvo OEM from what I hear.
