Just wondering if anyone managed to get one of these to pass smog checks in CA after 200k miles? I just passed mine but it only has 156000 miles.

Does the test regime include a sniffer? I'd guess these cars start to have problems with particulates if they're burning oil through the valve stem seals.
But if there's no sniffer, you should be fine. In IL it's just an OBD test, so I passed every year even without a catalytic converter.
(Small-town Texas...no emissions testing, and the jacked-up empty-bed coal-rolling no-filter diesel trucks down here, ho boy. I could roast a Bengal tiger over a 55-gallon drum of coal every weekend and still be fiftieth percentile for Environmentally-Friendly Wacoans.)
