Hello all,
I just got this new air cleaner box, because the air intake with the flap was busted off when I bought it. My question is, what does that threaded port go to, connected to the air intake port with the flap?
Thanks in advance!

If your car is a non-turbo, then the left pipe as seen in your picture has a length of corrugated aluminum tube running to a heat shield above the exhaust. This is for warming the engine quicker in cold weather. The hose on the right in the picture should have a length of plastic pipe running up to the LH side of the radiator with an oval connector that runs down in-front of the radiator to draw in cool air for the air intake.
At the front right of the picture, there is a pipe running between the battery and radiator. That is the cold air intake for the engine. Unfortunately the warm air feed is hidden down the back of the engine and connects to a heat shield near the middle of the rear of the engine on the exhaust manifold.
Neil.

There is a wax capsule thermostat that controls that flap and when it goes bad the flap gets stuck on the hot air side. It kills the performance and the fuel economy when that happens. On my N/A cars I just forced the flap to the cold air side permanently.

Thank you, Neil and Lee, I appreciate your time and insights! EDIT: So I can just cap it, or leave in open, given warm weather?

Leaving it open is preferable. If you cap it the car can't get any air when the damper is to the hot side. It all gets filtered the same.
